Role overview 

The Divisional Used Van Manager plays a pivotal commercial leadership role within Citygate, accountable for delivering used van gross performance against budget across the division, while defining and executing the overarching used van strategy to drive profitability, optimise stock turn, and strengthen market position.

Working closely with Citygate Commercial Vehicle Sales Teams, the role ensures effective stock planning, disciplined pricing and margin control, and consistent performance standards across all locations.

The position is instrumental in driving a high-performance culture, ensuring alignment to divisional and business-wide objectives, and continuously identifying opportunities to enhance commercial outcomes across the used van operation.

 

Key responsibilities 

As a Divisional Used Van Manager, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead divisional used van performance, delivering gross profit against budget through effective stock, pricing, and sales strategy.
  • Develop and execute a clear used van strategy, optimising stock mix, volume, margin, and stock turn across all sites.
  • Partner with Sales Managers and site leadership to drive pricing discipline, improve deal quality, and maximise conversion.
  • Monitor performance and act decisively, identifying risks and opportunities to maintain strong commercial results.
  • Maintain competitive market positioning while protecting margin and return on investment.
  • Control key cost areas, including preparation, stocking charges, and ageing profile.
  • Oversee stock management, ensuring efficient inventory levels, vehicle movement, and availability for sale.
  • Collaborate with group functions, including buying and logistics teams, to support overall used vehicle performance.

About You 

  • As the Divisional Used Van Manager, you will ideally have the following skills and experience:
  • Proven track record of delivering VAG used van sales performance, consistently achieving or exceeding volume and gross profit targets.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to manage pricing, margin, stock turn, and ROI in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep understanding of used vehicle stock management, including sourcing, ageing control, and market pricing.
